Prodigal
Terms of Use
Effective 19 August 2026
These terms govern your use of the Prodigal app and joinprodigal.app ("Prodigal", "we"). By using Prodigal you agree to them.
What Prodigal is — and is not
Prodigal is a devotional companion: saints' lives, Scripture, the Church's prayers, and space for your own reflection. It is not counseling, therapy, medical care, or crisis support, and it is not a substitute for any of them — or for the sacraments and your parish. If you are in crisis, the app points to real people who can help (in the United States, call or text 988; in an emergency, call 911).
The subscription
- Prodigal's deeper features are offered as an auto-renewing subscription of $4.99 per month, purchased through your Apple ID.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. The subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the period.
- You can manage or cancel any time in your Apple ID settings (Settings → your name → Subscriptions). Apple's refund policies apply.
- Core features — your first match, the daily saint, the prayer library, lighting a candle, and crisis resources — are free.
The giving commitment
Prodigal donates a share of its own subscription revenue to Catholic relief work. These gifts are made by Prodigal as a business, from Prodigal's revenue. Your purchase is a subscription, not a donation, and is not tax-deductible for you. Details of our giving (including any named organizations) will be published when formal agreements are in place.
Your content
What you write in Prodigal — notes, journal pages, intentions — remains yours. You give us only the limited license needed to store and display it back to you. See the Privacy Policy for how it is protected and deleted.
Acceptable use
Don't attempt to break, reverse-engineer, or misuse the service, or use it to harm others. We may suspend accounts that do.
The content of the app
Saints' biographies, daily lines, novenas, and prayers in Prodigal are drawn from Scripture, public-domain sources, and the Church's tradition, curated by people. They are provided in good faith and without warranty of fitness for any particular purpose.
Changes and termination
We may update these terms; material changes will be dated above and noted in the app. You can stop using Prodigal at any time and delete your account in the app (MORE → Remove my account).
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which Prodigal's operating entity is registered, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
